The 2nd Asia Pacific Linguistics Olympiad (APLO 2020) was held simultaneously in six countries/regions, on September 27, 2020.

A total of 97 contestants participated in 7 cities. The top 8 students from each delegation are regarded as official participants.

In addition, five countries/regions have participated in APLO 2020 as a guest, between September 27 and October 26: Colombia, Latvia, Ukraine, Russia, and Canada.

APLO 2020 participants competed to solve problems on diverse languages including Iaai, Walman, Koyra Chiini, Tübatulabal, and Mantauran (Rukai). The problem set was provided in 10 different language versions. Problems and solutions may be found at https://aplo.asia/problems-by-year/.

Among the 48 official participants, 38 medals (5 gold, 11 silver, and 22 bronze) and 10 honorable mentions have been awarded by the International Jury. The cut-off scores are

Gold ≥ 58.0; Silver ≥ 48.0; Bronze 38.0.
